I want to write a story about witches in poor rural Appalachia (sort of where my mom’s family is from before they moved to Detroit)
Like coal mining country where some of the poorest people in the US live. If you’ve ever seen the Diane Sawyer 20/20 episode “Children of the Mountain” (which you really should) I’m talking that level of poverty in that setting
but I am so bad at following through with projects
There’s a great book called “Witches on the Road Tonight” that follows three generations of a family, one of whom is an Appalachian witch. Dirt poor, lives in a shack, raising a son while the husband’s in the service. It’s a morbid, fascinating read!
oh wow ty for letting me know about this, it sounds amazing!
